Seeking your input – an Open Data Policy for Queensland

Open Data, Open Conversations
Inspiring a more informed Queensland

The Queensland Government has partnered with ODI Queensland to reach out to the whole Queensland community and beyond to seek feedback to help shape a new Open Data Policy for Queensland.

A word about open data” – we asked Queenslanders participating in this process to describe what they thought about open data, using just one word.  Have a look at what we all had to say…

Join the conversation and help shape Queensland’s new Open Data Policy!

Your input will help develop a Policy that makes Open Data more transparent, accessible, and of a higher quality, with improved standards, management practices and efficiency. It will also assist others who don’t know much about Open Data or who’ve never accessed it before to find and use it more easily.

Individuals, groups, universities and businesses of all sectors are invited to tell us what matters most about Open Data, even if you aren’t yet using it. Together we can help make Queensland a global leader in open data and innovative excellence.

Why is this important?

Access to the right data will drive an innovative Queensland and encourage new business opportunities, partnerships, and service solutions, helping people in areas such as health, transport and education.  The Open Data Policy will ensure data is more accessible, and of a higher quality, with improved standards, management practices and efficiency.

The innovative engagement techniques of Open Data, Open Conversations include a first ever social pinning tool which is simple and fun to use. These techniques enable the Queensland Government to reach a wider number of people, groups and sectors and capture more in-depth feedback.

By engaging with the widest audience possible and making it easy to participate, Queensland Government can develop an Open Data Policy that best meets the needs of the whole community.

Open Data is data that is made available by governments, organisations, businesses and individuals for anyone to access, use and share.

How to get involved

Having your say has never been simpler.  Use your PC, smart phone or tablet to pin comments on the social map or join the conversation in an online community discussion forum. You can also apply to be part of deep dive engagement sessions that include live polling and digital tools to help draw out rich information that will advise how to move forward with the Policy.Symbols_small
